Edinburgh Cancer Centre nurse nominated for excellence

21/06/2022

Congratulations to Senior Research Nurse Vivienne Wilson, who has been nominated for an RCN Nursing Award.

Vivienne has been nominated for the Excellence in Cancer Research Nursing Award for her long service and outstanding impact in cancer research in Scotland and the innovative Patient Trial Advocate project she led during the pandemic.

Vivienne said: “I am delighted and honoured to be a finalist for the RCN Nursing awards 2022. This has been a great opportunity to use my research nursing experience and apply the specialist skills that research nurses develop to make this service a success and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work on such a new and bespoke project.”

Vivienne worked with charity Make 2nds Count to develop a service which would provide support to patients with secondary breast cancer in getting clear information and access to clinical trial treatments.

Dorothy Boyle, Cancer Research Network Manager, said: “I’m delighted for Vivienne as she truly deserves this recognition. Myself and our colleagues will be routing for her to win but even just the nomination is great recognition of the hard work and dedication that Vivienne has shown. The service is up and running and we’ve already had very positive feedback from service users.”

The RCN Nursing Awards celebrate the incredible contributions to outstanding patient care and are open to all UK nurses, midwives, health visitors, nursing students and nursing support workers.
