The Berwickshire Charity Truck Run (BCTR) has been running for over 3 years now, set up as a way for local people to help out local causes. The charity’s aim is not only to help out the local community but also provide a great day out for the whole family! With previous fundraising to improve patient experiences at the Borders General Hospital, specifically for palliative patients—this year the event organiser chose to fund raise for the Scottish Cancer Research Network (SCRN), embedded here at the WGH. The SCRN delivers clinical research to patients across the South East of Scotland, and was chosen as the worthy cause this year due to a family member close to the organisers participating in a clinical trial at the Centre, and seeing how valuable the research is to patients with cancer. The SCRN Manager, Dorothy Boyle, commented: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the Berwickshire Charity Truck Run for choosing to support us this year!”
