I studied Biomedical Science at Kings College, London, before graduating from Medicine in Edinburgh in 2008. As a junior doctor I developed an interest in Anticipatory care planning and was part of the National Do Not Attempt Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) policy working group. I have published papers on DNACPR, ACP QI work improving access to patient Key Information Summaries at the front door. Latterly, I completed an MD and published papers on Rehabilitative Palliative Medicine and now am part of a European Association for Palliative Care Task force in this field. My role within the Hospital Palliative Care Team includes provision of support at the ‘front door’ at the Western General Hospital, supporting the acute medical teams with Supportive and Palliative Medicine. I believe that incorporating a rehabilitative goal centred approach for patients with palliative care needs is vital for person-centered care. Outside of Palliative Medicine I enjoy mountain biking, walks with family, and have completed the ‘Tough Mudder’ and ‘MacTuff’: any excuse to get muddy!
