Dr Clive undertook her undergraduate medical training at the University of Aberdeen, qualifying in 1992. During her graduate medical training she worked in Aberdeen and Inverness. Her specialist oncology training has been in Edinburgh, initially as lecturer then as specialty registrar. During her training, she undertook three years of postgraduate research with the Imperial Cancer Research Fund under the supervision of Professor Duncan Jodrell and Professor David Webb, and graduated with an MD in 2001.
Dr Clive completed specialist training in 2005 and has had a substantive consultant post in the Edinburgh Cancer Centre since 2007. Her main clinical specialities of interest have been in the medical management of colorectal cancer and in cancers of unknown primary. She has a keen interest in improving patient pathways for those presenting outwith the usual diagnostic routes and in understanding clinical and biological factors to help direct the most appropriate management.
She has maintained an active interest in cancer clinical trials throughout her career, as an NRS clinician, and continues to lead and deliver clinical trials in all her clinical areas of interest, with the overarching aim of improving outcomes for patients.
She also has an interest in cancer medicines governance, was chair of the Cancer Therapeutics Advisory Committee for many years, has led and contributed to local, regional and national SACT groups and currently chairs the National Cancer Medicines Advisory Group.
For leisure she enjoys hill walking (climbing my last Munro in 2022), running, cycling, triathlon, visiting new places and spending time with my family, friends and dog.
