ECC @ SJH (Ward 15)
Overview
ECC @ SJH (Ward 15) is the out patient oncology/Haematology ward caring for patients with various types of cancer and haematological conditions. We specialise in delivering a variety of cancer therapies, predominantly chemotherapy and immunotherapies. We also administer some supportive therapies. We are open from 0800 – 2000 hours. Patients will have a reclining chair for the duration of their treatment. Patients are welcome to bring laptops or other electronic devices as some treatments can be long day treatments. Wifi is available and the chairs have charger points. Complimentary therapies are available in the ward.
The ward Comprises 3 treatment areas. We have side rooms for infection control purposes.
The ward comprises of 2 areas to administer SACT and 1 area for supportive therapies. Each area has 6 reclining chairs and the ward has an additional 4 side rooms with a chair. There are 3 examination rooms that are used for varies procedures and examinations. Consultants run weekly pre assessment clinics and the rooms are used by both the medical and Nursing teams.
The ward has a large waiting area with lots of supportive reading material and volunteers to offer support (certain days only).
Visiting Hours
Due to limited space in the ward we are unfortunately unable to accommodate visitors. But on patients first visit to the unit, when they are receiving a lot of information about their treatment and any potential side effects if they would prefer to have someone with them to hear that information. We can arrange translators for patients as required.
