Therapeutic Radiographers

1 in 4 patients with cancer will receive radiotherapy treatment, and this treatment is delivered by Therapeutic Radiographers.
The Therapeutic Radiographers deliver your radiotherapy treatment every day. They build up a rapport with patients, family and carers; offering both emotional and specialist care throughout the treatment and play a vital role in supporting patients with the side effects of treatment.
They are highly skilled individuals who use a range of highly-specialised equipment (Linear accelerators) to deliver accurate doses of radiation. As part of the delivery they assess both X-ray images and CT scans and makes highly complex clinical decisions daily.
Behind the scenes Therapeutic Radiographers also do much more than deliver your treatment. They are the only healthcare professionals who are specially trained to both plan and deliver radiotherapy treatment. They are involved in all aspects of radiotherapy including; pre treatment, treatment, on treatment review, follow up clinics and research & trials.
You may also meet therapeutic radiographers who specialise in treating specific types of cancer, using their developed expert knowledge to work closely with your oncologist to ensure accurate planning and delivery of radiotherapy.
Our aim is to deliver safe and accurate treatment, whilst also delivering high quality patient care throughout the radiotherapy journey.
